Our Therapists
Vince South
Vince has come to us from the world of formula one, after spending many years travelling the world with the F1 team as a race mechanic. He went on to specialise in fine tuning aerodynamic design features of F1 cars, testing them in wind tunnels in top secret laboratories.
These days Vince prefers to use his sensitivity and intelligence to help keep humans on the road. His attention to detail, teamwork, professionalism and efficiency ensures that he has seamlessly transferred his skillsets over to the world of sports and remedial massage.
And a word to the wise—during Vince’s interview process, company director Jon was left ‘smiling, and barely able to talk’ after receiving one of his fantastic massages!
Chris Herotodou
Chris’ work as a massage therapist has seen him both travelling the world as part of a 5 star spa aboard the MV Oceana cruise ship, and looking after elite-level athletes during the yacht racing season in Barcelona. Having such a well-rounded background, and a warm, easy-going nature means that Chris fits right into the City Sports Massage team. Due to company growth, City Sports Massage Company director Jon has recently relinquished his 5 year residency at the Healthy Living Centre, entrusting it to Chris’ good hands.
Chris has 5 years experience as a therapist and is also a tutor at the North London School of Sports Massage.
Judith Meixner
City Sports Massage are a bit like the French Foreign Legion when it comes to hiring:
- You must be absolutely excellent at your job (in the case of City Sports Massage this means you’re lovely, intuitive and very effective),and;
- You can be merciless when it comes to carrying out your duties
And like the French Foreign Legion, we don’t care what your background is. In the case of Judith this means she lived in Australia for a while. We know those Aussies are a rough lot, but she isn’t, so please don’t worry.
And besides, Australia is well known for having a very high standard when it comes to massage schools; and Judith learned how to flex at the Australasian College of Natural Therapies.
You’ll love her.
Monika Bhika
We like our therapists well-balanced, and were excited to discover Monika has a background in two things. Number one; being a problem solver in the fast-paced world of HR/finance, number two; being volunteer charity worker for frazzled cats and dogs. (A number of you reading this might see similarities in these two worlds already).
To begin with we figured as Monika knew how to handle animals, she would be able to deal with the rugby players we get through our doors. But after a series of assessments we found Monika to be an excellent all-round therapist - and her calm, determined ways means she can deal with fluffy kittens and grumpy pit bulls with equal ease. (No matter how frazzled they might be.)
Fuchsia Farrow
Fuchsia Farrow has joined us from the French Alps, where she's been busy providing sports and remedial massage to the visiting international skiers and snowboarders. A keen surfer and snowboarder herself, she thoroughly enjoyed helping her clients reach their full potential on the mountain slopes. Fuchsia has previously worked alongside the physiotherapists at London Wasps Rugby Club, been senior massage practitioner at a busy Chiropractic practice in Exeter, and has assisted on several marathons and 100k Oxfam walks. Fuchsia's friendliness and innate ability to target the actual source of muscular discomfort has gained her many loyal clients.
Becky Clarke
Becky Clarke had been a pregnancy massage specialist for 3 years when she started visiting City Sports Massage as a client. One day she asked Jon to run a sports massage workshop. During this workshop Becky was demonstrating her newly learnt remedial techniques on Jon, and he was so impressed he immediately asked her to undertake a full BTEC sports massage diploma and come and join the team as soon as possible. Becky has recently returned from maternity leave after having her first baby, so is now even more of a pregnancy massage specialist! Working with mums-to-be doesn’t stop her impressing some of our more musclebound clients — who are equally as delighted she’s back.
Jon Gee
Jon Gee began his career by running away to the circus to perform high on the trapeze. It was at the circus that he began to learn the rigging skills that would allow him to travel far and wide, working on operas, car launches and rock concerts.
After a career change he founded City Sports Massage to provide an easily accessible, high standard of sports and remedial massage service in London.
Jon now directs the team, and leads in-house, CPD workshops which focus on breathing techniques, exploring the muscles of the chest, and mindfulness in massage. He specialises in working with pregnant clients, professional singers, those requiring work on post-operative visible scars, and anyone who finds particular difficulty in relaxing and de-stressing.
Ellie Gonzalez
Ellie Gonzalez is a Canadian fitness instructor and has been working as ‘stretch therapist’ for the last 4 years using the Mattes Method of Active Isolated Stretching. That means she has a unique ability to take your body where it hasn’t been before! Like all of our therapists she’s incredibly warm and rarely stops smiling - even, we hear, when she’s being very evil to your muscles! It’s hard to imagine Ellie being evil, but if you ask her nicely, she will be! In the short time Ellie’s been with us she’s built up a very impressive following. Visit her at the clinic to find out why!
